Each diamond has been hand-selected to fit our standard of H-I in color and a clarity of SI2-I1. In other words, our diamonds are near colorless to the naked eye and will have slight inclusions visible under 10x magnification.
Slate & Tell's Natural Diamonds are 95% responsibly sourced. Slate & Tell is proud to offer recycled Natural Diamonds to set within your fine jewelry. Recycled Diamonds are a substantial eco-friendly option as they do not require any new mining to take place, keeping environmental impacts minimal.
The origin is the only difference. Natural diamonds are mined from the earth, whereas lab-grown diamonds are produced in a lab. Natural diamonds are more expensive due to their rarity in nature.
Carat: The unit of measurement for the weight of gemstones and diamonds.
Cut: A term that refers to a diamond's facets, proportions and symmetry. A well-cut diamond will display optimal sparkle and appear larger.
Color: A diamond’s color is graded on a scale from D-Z and is assigned a letter, or range of letters based on the presence of color, or lack thereof. For instance, D in color refers to a colorless stone, G is near colorless, and K will show noticeable color. Our diamonds are H-I in color meaning they appear near colorless.
Clarity: Diamonds form in the earth with characteristics inside the crystal called inclusions. These can be small and colorless, or noticeable and black or brown. The presence of inclusions is inspected under 10x magnification by a gemologist. Then the diamond is assigned a grading based on a scale: Internally Flawless, Flawless (no inclusions visible under 10x), Very Very Slightly Included, Very Slightly Included, Slightly Included, and Included. Our diamonds are SI2-I1 meaning they will have slight inclusions visible under 10x magnification.
